Welcome to Mandi's Microgreens & Bountiful Seed Pantry where passion meets purpose in the world of seeds and sustainable living. At Mandi's', we take pride in being more than just a business – we are a community dedicated to empowering individuals to cultivate a healthier, greener tomorrow.
Many root vegetables are early starters and are directly sown into your garden or planter. Radishes, carrots, turnips, beets...we could go on. Check our our catalog for some great selections for your 2021 garden.
We're not going to beat around the bush, tomatoes are by far our favorite garden produce. We look for heirloom tomato varieties that are rich in flavor and color. Whether you are making a salad or homemade spaghetti sauce; there is nothing like a homegrown summer tomato.
A quicker turnaround than fruit bearing plants, leafy vegetables add a lot of variety to your garden. Lettuce and spinach are very traditional leafy vegetables; why don't you stretch and try something new this year like Red Leaf Amaranth or Portuguese kale. We'll leaf that up to you.
Are you in this for the long haul? Melons generally require a longer growing season and some soil augmentation. If you up for the challenge you will be rewarded with the wonderful sweet flavors melons produce. Our favorite melon is Piel de Rana (Toad Skin) that produce a football shaped fruit with a lumpy green, yellow, and brown skin. The white melon flesh is sweet and smooth, don't miss this melon.
So many cucumber varieties now are hybrids, finding heirlooms that can be used for seed savings is a challenge. These delicious melon cousins are are crisp and flavorful. We avoid the "grocery store verities" and offer some fantastic producers. New this year is a small cucumber often called a mouse melon. The Mexican Sour Gherkin is a small bite sized cucumber that resembles a watermelon. Try these dipped in yogurt or chocolate.
The brassica family of vegetables is very broad but some of our favorite garden varieties are found here. Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kale, Chinese Cabbage(Napa, Pak Choi, Tatsoi ...this list can go on. These tend to be early spring starters that can weather a light frost and cooler temperatures in the spring and fall. Here's a tip, purple varieties are higher in nutrients and have built in defenses against common pests.
Peppers, you cant live without them. Well you shouldn't!. Add some flavor and spice to you garden and food this year with a fantastic selection of pepper seeds. You'll find heirlooms from colored bell peppers to South American Habanero seeds. Check out our selection for your garden seed needs.
